Earlier today we reported on a preview of the Nokia N8 that Eldar from Mobile-Review published. He didn’t really like the thing, but anyway, for those of you still interested we have the full Nokia N8 specification sheet courtesy of Unwired View:

  • 12 megapixel camera with f/2.8, 28mm wide angle Carl Zeiss optics, and Xenon flash; dedicated camera key
  • 720p video recording at 30 frames per second
  • Face recognition
  • HDMI output with battery rated at 6.7 hours
  • Dolby Digital Plus support, maximum 5.1 channel speaker output
  • Six customizable home screen
  • 3.5 inch AMOLED screen with 640 x 360 pixel resolution, 16 million colors
  • FM radio, and FM transmitter
  • Volume: 86 cc
  • Weight: 135 grams
  • Dimensions: 113.5 mm x 59 mm x 12.9 mm
  • 10.2 Mbps down, 2.0 Mbps up, HSPA on the 850/900/1700/1900/2100 MHz bands
  • Quadband GSM/EDGE
  • Processor: Unknown ARM architecture @ 680 MHz
  • Memory: 256 MB of RAM (half that of the Google Nexus One), 512 MB ROM
  • Bluetooth 2.1, GPS, WiFi b/g
  • 1200 mAh battery
  • Symbian^3

Few things to note: one device that supports every single 3G band on this planet is a monumental engineering achievement. Hats off to the antenna guys. How long will that battery last when recording HD video? Is that 680 MHz processor using the old ARMv6 instruction set, or is it the new ARMv7 goodness that powers devices such as the iPhone 3GS, Google Nexus One, HTC Incredible/Desire, and Motorola Droid? Why does a flagship device have less than half a gigabyte of RAM?

Sounds pretty cool to me. Looks pretty mundane though. I’d have been more interested in the X6 for Tmobile bands. But honestly, Tmo sell this damn phone. You already screwed up and didn’t sell the N900 subsidized when it came out last year. At the time there weren’t ANY 3.5″+ competitors for the iPhone and you chose not to sell it…idiots. You missed your chance at competing at the hardware race which would have given you a bit of a lead. Sure you have the HD2 now, but you coulda taken a nice swing a long time ago.

I don’t think its going to have a 5 band 3G radio. There will more than likely be 2 versions with three radios a piece.

Agreed. Let’s not start the whole N97 Mini fiasco again.

Nokia probably published that it will support those five bands, but did NOT mention it would take two devices to do it.

Everything seems good. Let’s hope undisclosed processor speed is not the old “Arm” architecture.
