Bell Pearl 3G 9100

So, the BlackBerry Pearl 3G, aka the 9100 has been unveiled. What do you make of it? For me, it’s an absolute winner if you:

  1. Are/were an original Pearl Series user
  2. Are a BlackBerry user looking for a compact, candybar style device for everyday use

While I’ve never been a user of the Pearl, I’ve always appreciated its place in the BlackBerry lineup… and in all honesty, I’ve been amazed at how well it has done over the years. Say what you want about it, it has been a consistent performer, and has filled a hole in the RIM lineup that needed to be filled.

Over the past few days, we’ve seen the Pearl 3G go up for pre-order at Amazon.de (Germany), and TELUS (Canada). Amazon has the Pearl 3G up for a hefty $499.50 euros, while TELUS has the Pearl 3G up-for-grabs via Best Buy locations. We’ve heard pricing will be set at $29.99 on the standard 3-year contract, and color options are said to be pink and black. While all of this was going on, both Rogers and Bell have had dummy units arrive in-store, and we know what that means… More pricing and launch details to come.

To that end, this morning I noticed that some Bell Pearl 3G pricing had slipped out already. Rumor has it the Bell Pearl 3G will go for $29.95 on a 3-year deal, and $329.95 off-contract. Look for the Bell Pearl 3G to arrive May 13th, and the TELUS variant to hit us May 6th. Launch and pricing details on other carriers? Not so sure at this point. Stay tuned for more.
