The Motoroi is one of the finest Android devices to date. The one thing that’s less appealing about the device? It’s only available in Korea right now. But, the good news is that this may all change in the near future, as now we are hearing that the feature-packed Motoroi Android smartphone may be headed to the UK.
For those of you not yet in the know, the Motoroi has more features that you can shake an Android-shaped stick at. With a 3.7-inch display, HDMI output, and an 8-megapixel camera with a Xenon flash (take that, Incredible), the device has almost everything you could ask for in terms of hardware. One of my favorite things that the device lacks? Motoblur. Motorola’s custom UI is very suitable for certain devices, but would be less desirable for such a powerhouse device like the Motoroi. Some parts of the UI in the Motoroi are reminiscent of Motoblur, but for the most part it’s just stock Android.
We had a heard a while back that the Motoroi would be hitting the US, and then other countries afterwards. Unfortunately, that didn’t happen, and instead it was released in Korea. Motorola did mention during their Motorola XT701 launch at CTIA earlier this year that the Motoroi was bound to hit the UK at some point. And, now that rumors of the Motoroi’s imminent British debut are swirling, British Android fans should take note.
The UK version of the Motorola Motoroi may come with some internal differences. Things like ROM and RAM are likely to be upgraded, and possibly a faster processor to boot. Android 2.1 also seems to be coming along for the ride, which could make plenty of people happy, even if it isn’t the newest software version by the time the devices actually launches – Android 2.2 OS (Froyo) is just around the bend, after all.
Now, should the Motoroi make it to the US, chances are there will be one or more devices that have a similar, or better spec sheet available. But it’s still good news to see this device going somewhere else!
