Fuchsia BlackBerry Curve 8520, White Bold 9700 now on T-Mobile

As expected, T-Mobile has released the BlackBerry Curve 8520 in fuchsia and the Bold 9700 in white. While the white Bold has made the rounds, the fuchsia 8520 looks like it’s an exclusive offer. The two BlackBerrys are really pitted at opposite ends of the value spectrum; the 9700 is RIM’s top-of-the-line smartphone, featuring a 3.2 megapixel camera with flash, HVGA display9700, GPS, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and 256 MB of application memory. On the flip side, the Curve 8520 has a 2 megapixel camera with no flash, Wi-Fi (no GPS), and a QVGA display. Of course, that disparity is justified with dramatically different price points: $49.99 on a two-year contract for the Curve, or $129.99 on a two-year contract for the Bold. Both offer calling over Wi-Fi through T-Mobile’s UMA service.

We’re still not sure if T-Mobile will pick up the new Pearl 9100, so if you’re on the verge of getting a BlackBerry, you’re probably safe to nab either the 8520 or 9700 in the new colours without too much regret down the line. Besides, the only thing the new Pearl has over the Bold is Wi-Fi 802.11 n.
