Gist app comes to Android to track all your business contacts through social media

Gist is an application that allows you to stay connected to your professional network, connecting business contacts to their Twitter, and Facebook accounts. The application has been available for the iPhone for some time now, and now they have officially released their Android version. Now Android users can use Gist to keep tabs on their most important (likely business) contacts’ social network updates and daily happenings from contacts’ companies.

After launching the application, and this is to say you’ve already set up your account, you’ll be presented with the Gist dashboard. The dashboard will give you a stream of all social-networking services, such as Facebook, Twitter, etc. There are five tabs along the top of the application, Dashboard, Events, People,Companies, and Settings. Within these tabs you’ll find all the information you’d like to know about the information on your business contacts, news about their companies, and more.

I have to admit that I was skeptical, and wondered why I even needed such an application when I have all of these contacts already in my contacts on my phone, and information about them through my social networks. But after downloading the application, and viewing it for myself, it’s really nice. Everything is very simple, and the application as a whole has a very clean looking UI. Instead of having to sift through all my contacts for all accounts to get to business contacts, they are all placed neatly in the Gist app.

But there is still work to be done. Some of the attachments I was trying to view from my own contact card failed to load. Even worse, attempts to look up company information from IntoMobile, resulted in none of the articles from our site bring found. Other stories from other sites were there, but IntoMobile was a strangely missing. In either case, after my short time with the app, I can say that it looks pretty good. Even if you don’t think you need something like Gist, it’s definitely worth a try. Updates will follow to make this great application even better.
