With the Apple iPhone turning 3 years old quite soon, and with the newest model expected to be shown off early next week at Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference, something that everyone has been wondering is when will Nokia reach parity in terms of user experience? This isn’t the opinion of myself, fellow journalists, and mobile phone addicts, but even Nokia’s Head of Global Partner Marketing, Nick Malaperiman, recently said that the fluidity of the iPhone is what Nokia should “aspire” to be.

Pushing buttons of fanbois and girls aside, what we have here is a video of a prototype Asian Nokia N8, and pinch to zoom is shown working. It isn’t as smooth as the iPhone, nor Android, but hell, it’s finally working in some fashion or another. Congratulations Nokia. Welcome to the club. The Nokia N8 is also going to get threaded text messaging, something that I’ve been craving since using the earlier versions of the Palm Treo. What other goodies does Symbian^3 hold? We’re going to have to wait until September or October when the N8 is expected to hit markets.
