The Associated Press is joining the FIFA World Cup 2010 games with its own mobile application. Actually, we’re not talking about a single app, but a series of applications released for every major platform. Virtually all smartphones are supported, including the iPhone, Android, BlackBerry and various Nokia devices (both S60 and Series 40 – which technically is not a smartphone platform, and Maemo),

Feature wise, the application boasts multiple language settings for English, Spanish, French and Portuguese as well as customizable skins for all 32 countries participating in the tournament. There are also the latest player and team news, match previews, post-match analysis, stadium and regional information, photos and exclusive video.

At the end of the press release, AP reminds u they’ve been covering all 18 FIFA World Cup events since Uruguay in 1930 and are thus more relevant than any other media organization. To check that claim for yourself, you’ll have to search for AP’s 2010 World Cup app in your phone’s app store…

The idea of accessing and managing your information from any device no matter where you are simply amazes him. Whether it's an online to-do list, note taking service or a video sharing social network, he's there to try it out. He admits though, he's still searching for the ultimate web-based organizational tool, which "sings" perfectly with the mobile PIM application.
