RockBasePlayer plays all your wacky video codecs and formats on Android

Tired of converting all of your favorite videos into an Android supported format that takes forever? Well, thanks to RockBasePlayer Android video player, your dreams are about to come true. This app allows you to play different formats of video right from your phone without any time-consuming conversion process!

The RockBasePlayer applications allows you to play DivX, AVI, XviD, MKV videos right from your phone, without a hitch. I’ve tested the app briefly and have found no hiccups whatsoever. Well, maybe one or two, but still much better than what any of the competition offers. There have been Android apps on the Android Market that support some of video codecs and formats, but they have many stability issues, and the quality is just downright bad. In contrast, the RockBasePlayer Android video player plays back video buttery smooth, with the only caveat being that sometimes the audio would cut out for a few seconds. While it can be a little annoying, I’ll take that over anything else that’s available!

While it’s yet to hit the Android Market right now, you can still find the application online, and sideload it (as long as your handset allows you to sideload unsigned apps). You’ll need to have Android 2.1 OS or higher for the RockBasePlayer app to work, which is nice since half of Android users have it installed now. You Android 1.5 and 1.6 users, sorry you’re out of luck. Maybe it’s time to get a new phone?

The application is simple enough – it’s as easy as installing, opening app, and finding the movie on your SD card, and you’re good to go. Say goodbye to battery life, and say hello to conversion-free full length movies on your Android handset.

You can grab the application here. Give it a try and tell us how the experience is. Are you getting any of the audio cut outs that we’ve seen?
