PayPal unveiled Mobile Express Checkout, which is a mobile version of its Express Checkout technology, allowing merchants to deliver the familiar easy to use shopping experience to their on-the-go customers. Currently the service is available in beta to select retailers, including Buy.com, and the general availability is planned for later this summer.
Some of the benefits for merchants include:
- Reduces costs as no complex back-end infrastructure is required.
- Quick deployment that puts merchants in the mobile game quickly.
- A seamless customer experience which is especially important with tiny screens and keyboards.
- Enhanced security and fraud prevention system.
In a nutshell, PayPal prepared such a solution which is both risk-free and cost-effective for merchants to implement. That’s of course in case they [merchants] already have mobile websites up and running.
PayPal’s main goal, of course, is to repeat its success from the PC environment and conquer the mobile market. We’re definitely looking forward to their and success of PayPal’s competitors in the effort to make mobile commerce a reality.
