Smartphone app developer MobileIron has raised an additional $16 million in a Series C round of financing from Foundation Capital, which joins existing investors – Norwest Venture Partners, Sequoia Capital and Storm Ventures. The new money will be used for the company’s “ongoing business expansion and investment.”
Those unfamiliar, myself included, should know that the MobileIron Virtual Smartphone Platform allows companies to manage smartphone data, privacy, security and cost across multiple operating systems using a single technology solution.
Commenting on the news, MobileIron’s CEO Bob Tinker, said: “Enterprise mobility is a big market and this investment recognizes MobileIron’s leadership. Foundation brings significant experience and expertise to the table and we’re honored to have them as an investor. We’re excited about the next phase of our company’s growth and continuing our work with our partners and customers to develop technology that solves real business problems.”
Paul Holland, general partner at Foundation Capital, on its end believes that MobileIron is “poised to be a major player in enterprise mobility as the market matures.” He seems like a smart guy, so we’ll watch more closely for any news coming out from MobileIron…
