Sprint-owned Common Cents Mobile, which is known for its pay-by-the-minute prepaid offering, announced expansion into an additional 500 Walmart stores — including new markets such as Chicago/Central Illinois, New Orleans, Cincinnati and Washington, D.C. With this addition, the their offering is available in almost 1,250 Walmart stores around the U.S.

Those unfamiliar, myself included, should know that Common Cents Mobile was launched in May 2010, and is the only pay-as-you-go service that offers Round Down minutes, which are (obviously) popular among the budget-conscious consumers. Here’s how it works: if you talk for 3 minutes and 23 seconds, only 3 minutes will be deducted from your minutes, giving your even more talk time.

Price wise, Common Cents costs 7 cents per minute, day or night, weekday or weekend, with “Round Down” activated after the first minute.

Finally, to celebrate the expansion into additional Walmart stores, Common Cents Mobile now offers new customers an additional 200 “Bonus Minutes” for domestic use when they refill their phone for the first time…
