During the recently ended Mobile Entertainment Live!: The Music App Summit, Billboard announced the winners of its first-ever Music App Awards.

The winning apps, which were narrowed down from a pool of three finalists in each category, were as follows:

  • Best Artist-Based App – I Am T-Pain, Smule
  • Best Music Streaming App – MOG Mobile, MOG
  • Best Music Engagement App – SoundHound Infinity, SoundHound Inc.
  • Best Music Creation App – MorphWiz, Wizdom Music
  • Best Branded App – Gibson Learn & Master Guitar, Gibson Guitar

The Billboard Music App Awards was envisioned to honor innovative music-focused apps created for today’s smartphones. Winning apps were selected by an independent panel of judges that included MC Hammer, Wired staff writer Eliot van Buskirk, CEO of The Mobilium Advisory Group – Ralph Simon, AppFund founder – Daniel Klaus, Topspin CEO – Ian Rogers and Patrick Mork, GetJar’s VP of Marketing.
