Mobiado unveils Classic 712MG Mokume Gane, luxury phone that rediscovers old Japanese tradition

Mobiado is out with a new luxury phone. The model name is Classic 712MG Mokume Gane and as you can see from the image above, it is somehow related to the old Japanese lifestyle/tradition.

Mokume Gane means “wood-grain metal” and it’s a technique of “bonding mixed-metal” used for sword fittings, invented in Japan in the 17th century.

As expected, there is a bunch of high-end (and expensive) materials used to construct this phone. The frame is made out of mix of nickel silver, copper and brass, which is “stacked and wrapped in steel foil”. Plus there are other “classic for Mobiado” materials like sapphire crystal, stainless steel, and 18k and 24k gold.

Specs wise — in case anyone cares — the Classic 712MG Mokume Gane comes with a 3G radio, 2.2-inch QVGA display, 5-megapixel camera, GPS, media player and web browser.

We don’t know the price at the moment, but we’re certain it has at least 4 figures with first figure being greater than 1 (possibly even 3)…
