Poynt was one of our top picks for Windows Phone 7 apps at launch, and today the developers are expanding its already-great local search to include gas prices. Using your GPS or cell tower location, it’ll find the prices of all the stations nearby It’s only in the U.S. for now, but Poynt tends to be pretty good about growing their geographic availability.

In addition to gas prices, Poynt brings local restaurants, movies, weather, businesses and people to your Windows Phone. In my experience with the BlackBerry app, it’s just a tad more smoothly-done than a Google Maps search, though (at least in Canada) listings are a bit less complete. There really differentiator is that the search results are just a launching pad for a bunch of different functions, like reserving tables at restaurants, buying movie tickets, starting calls with people, and getting directions to businesses.

Those few of you who own a Windows Phone can head on over to the Marketplace to download Poynt for free. If your phone runs something else, download links for the other Poynt apps are below.
