Xperia Play pre-order from Wirefly shaves the price, adds a gift card

We’re just a few days away from Sony Ericsson’s Xperia Play launch on Verizon Wireless but you may want to turn to Wirefly for the purchase. If you’re looking to sign a two-year contract with Verizon for the Xperia Play, not only is Wirefly taking $50 off of the price but it’s also giving away a $25 gift card for the Android Market.

When it’s not Amazon Wireless, you can expect that some of the best handset deals are coming Wirefly. Tthose looking to upgrade or add a line will be happy to hear that they too will received both the discount and the gift card. With a deal like this, the only thing you’ll need to endure with is the shipping time.

Adding in the Android Market gift card is a smart move, as many of the games you’ll find for the first Playstation certified handset will run over $5 dollars, so what better way to get the user acquainted with the handset than by offering up a couple of free games. Of course, you can use the gift card for whatever you choose but why not treat yourself to something that will help you break in that gamepad?

The Xperia Play sports a 4 inch display, 1GHz Snapdragon processor with Adreno GPU, 5 mega pixel camera, VGA front-facing camera, and runs Android 2.3 Gingerbread. You’ll also get a microSD card slot to expand memory, and given that most games you’ll be using with the handset will be on the larger side, you’ll probably need it.

Sure, there’s plenty to be desired from the Xperia Play, like a better processor, but it’s still a solid handset and we couldn’t imagine a better phone for the hardcore gamers out there.  We got some more hands-on time with the Play recently and so far we like what we see. Hopefully others will, too.

If you’re the instant gratification kind of person then you may want to just hit up your local Verizon store this Thursday. If you don’t mind waiting a couple of days, like discounts and gift cards, then point your browser to Wirefly to pre-order your Xperia Play now.
