Nokia has just announced a new app in their Beta Labs called Play To, which brings video, music, and photo sharing to home electronics over the local Wi-Fi network. Nokia Play To is based on the DLNA standard, so your TV and/or stereo system will need to be compatible to work.
Phones like the N8, E7, and X7 are all compatible, and once you have the app installed, all you have to do is hook up to the Wi-Fi network, pick which device you want to share to, and away you go. Considering a lot of folks use their phones as a primary music player, this is a great function to have, and avoids the necessity of dealing with awkward Bluetooth peripherals. Nokia phones also have exceptional cameras, so wirelessly pumping out still photos and videos to the big screen will no doubt look great.
I’ve always been a big fan of what Nokia churns out in the Beta Labs, and I suspect once all the bugs are ironed out, Play To will graduate to 1.0 status soon enough. Those of you still rocking a Symbian^3 device can download Play To in the Nokia Beta Labs over here for free.
