We just got word about one of Motorola upcoming phones, the Dinara. This handset should ship with a jaw-dropping list of specifications that should pack a punch, according to rumors. Well, we’ve heard that from Motorola before and we honestly can’t say that there’s one phone from the handset-maker that we genuinely love. Is the Dinara the Superphone that will change our mind? Let’s hope so.
Motorola used to be the go to Android handset-maker not long ago but has since lost its edge to the competition. It’s not that Moto makes bad Android handsets but it does lock them down and force you to use it’s rather ugly custom UI, Motoblur. That won’t always be the case, as handsets with locked bootloaders will be able to be unlocked sometime later this year. However, our many annoyances with Motorola make us less excited when a new handset arrives.
The Dinara may be the Motorola handset that may changed the minds of those who defected to the competition. Expected to ship with a large HD display, TI processor, 1GB of RAM, 13 megapixel camera, and internal battery (fancy…), we still need to hear more about the Dinara before we’re really interested. The handset should also ship with Gingerbread, so we can expect some physical buttons on it. An HD display sounds great, but a 13 megapixel camera sounds not only unnecessary, but if you’re going to throw that many megapixels into a camera, it better have an awesome sensor to back it up.
There’s still very little that we know about the Dinara but those who have waited on the Bionic so long may just want to hold out a bit longer and see if any more solid information is release for this handset. With rumored devices like the Nexus Prime all but certain to land sometime later this year, we’ll believe it when we see a superphone that beats them all.
Since the Dinara is named after a mountain, it best deliver.
