We have a couple cool tips from our trusted AT&T source, as the company’s internal inventory shows that it should be getting some cool new Android-powered Motorola devices soon: the Motorola Xoom 4G and what could be a followup to the Atrix.
The first bit isn’t that surprising, as AT&T said a Motorola Honeycomb tablet would be landing on its network this year way back at CES. The Motorola Xoom hasn’t exactly set the world on fire with its sales but it’s still quite a powerful tablet with an NVIDIA Tegra 2 processor, 10.1-inch screen, the latest version of Android and this 4G version will come with HSPA+ out of the gates. That’s right, no need to send it in for a modem update. This leak does show that it should be coming out pretty soon.
We’ve covered the fact that a new MotoBlur device is coming to AT&T soon and it could be an updated version of the Bionic or it could be the followup to the Atrix. The folks at Droid-Life found a Flickr gallery of a device that was supposedly taken with a “Droid HD” and we think these are the same device.
The gallery of images says the device is ME865 but our source says that may be a typo and that this powerful Android handset could have some noticeable improvements on the Atrix, which was called the world’s most powerful smartphone when it was introduced. It looks like the fingerprint scanner is gone, there will be an 8-megapixel camera that can record 1080p HD and that the screen could be a 720p HD one with 720 x 1280 resolution. We’re hearing whispers that the next Nexus phone will have a 720p HD screen, so this type of display is definitely possible.
Let us know what you think in the comments, friends, and if any of you are excited about AT&T getting a 4G Xoom.
