We knew Lenovo will ask a premium for its ThinkPad-branded tablet; nevertheless we were surprised when they announced the price – $479 will get you the basic model, which comes with Wi-Fi only connectivity, 16GB of built-in storage and no digitizer pen. To get that stylus, you’ll have to add another $30 bucks, which drives your total bill to $509. What’s more, presuming you need more space, the 32 gig version will get $589 out of your pocket (digital pen included). Needless to say, a separate keyboard is not part of the deal and it could be yours for an additional $99.

Kinda outrageous when you see what other OEMs are offering. Hopefully some carrier will pick the ThinkPad tablet and offer it for a more reasonable price when bundled with a contract.

In the meantime, those who don’t mind paying a premium will have to wait for August 23rd to get their ThinkPad fix… And you can get more information on Lenovo’s business-centric Android tablet from this page.

Not outrageous at all! The only real competition is the Asus Eee Pad Transformer. This tablet has every type of input interface under the sun… mouse, keyboard, pen, touch! It’s awesome. And, the price point is amazing… you can get this for less than everything other than the HP Touchpad and the Asus Transformer… all inferior in my opinion. The transformer, especially with it’s newly reduced price of $399 most places, is a good deal, no doubt. But, Lenovo’s build quality is awesome and the KB folio (though optional) is what really takes the cake. Yeah, the transformer has a keyboard, but no USB on the tablet itself. The Lenovo has it all… and is priced very competitively.

Your comment about a carrier offering it… it has no 3g option at the moment, so kiss that goodbye.

My real concern is… where the heck can I get one?!?!?!

And no… I do NOT work for Lenovo.
