Verizon Wireless is kicking off the holiday shopping season with a Black Friday sale on the Droid Incredible 2, the Motorola Xoom and the LG Revolution. The carrier is also offering an extra special, limited-time offer to customers who check-in to a Verizon retail store using Facebook or Foursquare. Verizon doesn’t say what it will give you in exchange for your social media support; you will have to go to a store yourself on Friday to find out.
Verizon’s announced Black Friday deals are good, but not spectacular. They’re suitable for someone who may be looking to grab a new phone or tablet device on the cheap. If you don’t care about 4G, you may want to look at the Droid Incredible 2. Verizon will slash $150 off the price of this world phone and make it available for free. My colleague Blake liked the Incredible 2 when he looked at it earlier this year. It’s a little weak under the hood, but is still a worthy update to the rock solid Incredible 1.
Verizon is also lowering the price of the LG Revolution from $199 down to a rock bottom $49. The Revolution is a 4G handset with a 4.3-inch display and Android 2.2. It’s not at the top of the Android line, but still is a solid performer. The third and final deal confirmed by Verizon is on the Motorola Xoom tablet. The Xoom loses $200 off its price tag, and will be sold for a lowly $199.
All the deals require a two-year customer agreement with Verizon and are available starting Black Friday. Other unannounced deals will be available online and in stores, so it may be worth your while to head down to a store on Friday and check things out.
