According to a new report from Juniper Research, the global redemption rate of mobile coupons will average at over 8% by 2016, representing an eightfold increase over the best paper coupons campaigns. The secret for this growth lies in the North American and Western European markets where users are now beginning to follow the same growth path as the Far East & China. As a result, there will be over 600 million regular mobile coupon users worldwide by 2016.
The report found that mobile coupons are particularly strategic for bricks and mortar retailers which have hard time competing against online retailers. It is said that a mobile coupon bridges the divide between online and physical retailing and can be individually targeted to drive footfall to stores.
Some other findings from Juniper’s report include:
- The integration of mobile coupons and mobile payment data is rare and an untapped opportunity.
- Redemption values will exceed $43 billion globally by 2016, driven by better targeting and mobile apps.
As usual, you can get more information about the report from Juniper Research’s website.
