Huawei was one of the first manufacturers to hold a press event at MWC and the Chinese company unveiled a snazzy new series of Android phones known as the Ascend D.

The flagship of this line is the Ascend D Quad. The  D Quad  is powered by Huawei’s own 1.5 GHz quad-core processor and includes a 16-core GPU for graphics. It’ll have penta-band WCDMA connectivity, 4.5-inch display with 330 ppi (higher than the iPhone 4/4S), 8-megapixel back-illuminated camera with 1080P HD video, 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera, Dolby Digital 5.1. It’s a slim phone that measures 8.9mm thick with a 1800 mAh battery. It’ll run Android 4.o Ice Cream Sandwich.

There will also be a D Quad XL version with an extended battery and a D1 version that’ll feature a TI OMAP4460 dual-core processor. The Ascend D phones will begin to arrive globally in Q2 2012. In the North American market, the handsets will feature LTE connectivity. The D1 will be the first to market with LTE and the D Quad will get LTE sometime in 3 or Q4.
