Well if JCB can have its own version of the Motorola Defy+, its archrival Caterpillar must have a phone of its own. And that’s exactly what they did at this year’s CeBIT in Germany, launching the CAT B10.

As you can imagine, it too (like the Defy+ JCB Edition) is a IP67-certified rugged device that can withstand water, dust and drops. To prove this, the B10 was on display under a stream of water to demonstrate it can be used in rough conditions and judging by its size (it’s about an inch thick), it should be able to meet most of the required tasks.

Rest of the specs include a 3.2-inch (HVGA?) screen with strengthened glass made by Asahi (Corning’s competitor), Qualcomm’s single-core 800MHz processor, 5-megapixel rear-facing camera, front-facing one, while Android 2.3.5 Gingerbread is running the show. Unlocked, Caterpillar’s baby will cost 379 EUR (about $500) and we’ve no idea whether some carrier will pick it up and offer the CAT B10 subsidized with a contract.
