So you think the Oppo Finder and Huawei Ascend P1 S are thin? Think again. At just 6.2mm, the soon to be launched ZTE Athena is boldly going for the world’s thinnest smartphone spot. The device is getting some serious traction at Sina Weibo, with few leaked photos sparking everyone’s imagination.

It is said that the Athena will not only look sexy, but will also pack some serious hardware under the hood. Among the things we should expect are a 720p HD screen, multi-core Cortex-A15 chip, a ton of built-in storage, while Android Ice Cream Sandwich will run the show out of box (though with ZTE’s own Miflavor UI singing on top)…

Looks like ZTE is following Huawei’s footsteps and is about to launch an awesome device that will undoubtedly be heading West-side. We’ll make sure to follow this story and let you know as soon as we hear anything new. Stay tuned in the meantime, k?
