Koodo Mobile is now offering the iPhone unlock service for $50. However, the service is not exactly available to everyone – some conditions apply:

  • The iPhone must be registered and hooked up to Koodo Mobile’s network
  • Customers must have their account in good standing for more than 90 days
  • Customers account must been paid in full and on time with no balance pending

So if you’ve been a good customer, you’re good to go. The question is – do you actually need to take advantage of this offer? If you’re satisfied with Koodo’s service, there’s no need to spend 50 bucks. If you, however, want to switch boats – well, that’s another story.

At the time I’m writing this, iPhone unlocking service wasn’t listed on the carrier’s website, so you’ll have to visit their store and ask for details…

My 3GS was locked to At&T and when they started unlocking iPhones I went ahead and did it because I have T-Mobile and don’t really want to pay two arms and two legs for cell phone service. Unlocking also adds value to the device because just about any one could buy as long as there is a GSM network where they live.
