Sony to unveil new phones on August 29

Sony is sending invites for its Berlin press event that takes place on August 29th. There will be an exclusive booth unveiling after the press conference when members of the media will be able to get their hands on the newly unveiled products for the first time.

Speaking of which [new products], we expect to see several new devices from Sony, including the ST26i Xperia J, LT26ii Xperia SL (an updated version of the Xperia S), LT29i Hayabusa and LT30i Mint — all of which we’ve seen leaked during the past 6 months or so. What Sony will exactly announce is a mystery to us though if I had to guess, I would say Xperia SL and one flagship device with 13-megapixel camera. Hopefully that model will also have a quad-core processor under the hood as well as 2 GB of RAM to make it “future proof.”

The way I see it, Sony needs a new flagship device quickly. Moreover, it needs to improve time-to-market and release new models only a month or so after they’re officially announced. Otherwise, Samsung and HTC will eat its launch…
