Back in December of last year, we’ve told you that a number of LG smartphones will get their servings of Ice Cream Sandwich. The Optimus 2X — which is the world’s first Android smartphone with a dual-core processor — was on that list, too. However, LG decided to flip-flop, saying that the original upgrade announcement was “general statement issued from HQ.” The Canadian arm of LG turned to Twitter to share the sad news, leaving those of you with the Optimus 2X to try out to cram unofficial ROMs onto their devices.
I really don’t get it. We see new devices with single-core processors running Android 4.0, so it’s safe to assume the Optimus 2X can handle the task just as well. Yeah its processor is kinda old these days, but it still has 2 m/f cores. That gotta count for something, right?
As far as I can tell, this is a bad decision and I’m hoping LG will at least release some sort of “Value pack” like Samsung did. We’ll see…
