Google’s new patent lets users take calls using both ends of the phone

Google has filed a phone patent that’ll hopefully save you from those awkward moments in public. You know, that moment when you attempt to answer a call on your smartphone but find yourself talking into the wrong end? Yeah, that one. The new patent will allow users to answer their smartphones no matter which end they decide to talk into.

The way it works is by simply adding a microphone and speaker at both ends of the device. The handset would then recognize which side you ultimately use — we’re sure it’ll have some special sensor or something to make it work. As you can see, there’s nothing too technical about answering a phone on both ends. That said, with Google being granted this patent, is this something we can expect the search giant to make in future Motorola devices? I guess we’ll have to wait and find out.
