LG Optimus 2X gets Android Ice Cream Sandwich in Korea

The LG Optimus 2X is getting a sweet update to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich over the air as you’re reading this. It started rolling out today, but it’s only available to South Korean customers — the specific model number is SU660. The rollout should eventually expand to other countries as well; Singapore is likely to be the next to get the Ice Cream Sandwich update.

Android 4.0 ICS for the Optimus 2X comes after quite a bit of speculation and rumored delays within LG. The build name is V30x.

You can get the update via this direct download link. It’s a .kdz file approximately 540MB in size and since the chances are very high that you’ve never heard of that file type before, you may want to follow a tutorial on how to update firmware with KDZ files. It has 16 steps in it, so take caution if you’re a regular consumer with little technological expertise.

The LG Optimus Black, Optimus 3D, and Optimus LTE should all receive ICS soon too.
