Despite the iPhone 5 launch, Samsung Galaxy S III managed to stay at the top of the best-selling smartphones list in the UK during the month of October. The Korean giant’s flagship has been holding this position during the past six months, according to the latest uSwitch.com Mobile Tracker which is based on live searches, pre-orders and pay monthly sales.

However, as we move closer to Christmas and with new devices launching, things may change. For one thing, Apple’s iPhone 5 is now widely available in the UK and there’s also the hot-new Nexus 4, both of which will undoubtedly compete for the top spot. In addition, there are other devices like the Sony Xperia T (aka the Bond phone), Nokia Lumia 920 and HTC Windows Phone 8X, though we don’t think these will affect Samsung’s sales in a significant way.

Here’s how the chart looked at the end of October:

  1. Samsung Galaxy S 3 16GB Blue
  2. Apple iPhone 5 16GB Black
  3. Samsung Galaxy S 2
  4. Apple iPhone 4S 16GB Black
  5. Sony Xperia U
  6. Samsung Galaxy Note 2
  7. Samsung Galaxy Ace
  8. Sony Xperia T
  9. HTC One X
  10. Nokia Lumia 610 Blue
