If you live in Britain and are looking to jump into the Windows Phone realm, perhaps you want HTC’s 8X. If you also happen to dislike contracts, here’s an offer worth considering.

Two phone retailers, Unlocked Mobiles and Clove, are now selling HTC’s baby for 398.98 GBP and 399.98 GBP, respectively. Translated into US dollars, that’s $637 which we find unacceptable. Sure enough, we’re talking about a brand new phone, but that’s still hefty pricing considering the hardware under the hood.

Speaking of which, the HTC 8X packs a 4.3-inch 720p HD Super LCD 2 screen, 8-megapixel camera on the back, 2.1-megapixel front-facing camera, dual-core processor clocked at 1.5GHz, 1GB of RAM, 16GB of internal memory, Wi-Fi, HSPA+ and so on.

So there’s no quad-core CPU inside and the screen is somewhat small by today’s standards. Definitely not worth $637… What do you say?
