Verizon to offer Samsung ATIV Odyssey for free on contract?

It looks like Verizon Wireless will give its best to promote Windows Phone 8. In an interview with The Verge, the carrier’s CMO Tami Erwin said that “there will be a $99 and a $199 [Windows Phone option] and ultimately before the end of the year we will have a device that comes in at the free [price] point.”

It’s likely that $99 and $199 will be the Nokia Lumia 822 and HTC 8X respectively, leaving the “free part” to the Samsung ATIV Odyssey. Speaking of which, this mid-range device will apparently come with a 4-inch WVGA AMOLED screen, 5-megapixel rear-facing camera, 8GB of built-in storage and a microSD memory card slot. We’re not sure whether any other operator is also looking to add the phone to its offering but if we hear something like that, you’ll be the first to know. In the meantime, if you’re eyeing some Windows Phone device, you’re better off with the Samsung ATIV S or Nokia Lumia 920…
