A month after launching its payment system in Canada, Square is bringing its Mobile Card Reader to major electronics retailers in the county. Small businesses and individuals looking to accept mobile payments can visit a local Apple, Best Buy or Futureshop store and secure their Square unit for just $9.99. To make for a sweeter deal, Square will issue you a $10 rebate, effectively making the device itself a freebie.

As I’m writing this, Square has 3 million active users and has processed some $10 billion in mobile payments. That said, we’re sure that “adding Canada to the mix” will further help Square grow, and that we should expect further expansion to other markets in the near future. We’ll let you know when hear something new on that front. Stay tuned…
