Unlocked Sony Xperia Z to cost $655?

You’ve seen it before. You know it will be sexy and powerful. But you don’t know how much it will cost. I’m talking about the soon-to-be-launched Sony Xperia Z and we’re glad we have the first glimpse of the price to share.

According to the leaked, seemingly legitimate image, Sony’s flagship device will sell for 19,990 Thai Baht, the amount that translates into some $655. That, of course, is the price sans any strings attached, allowing you to choose a carrier you want without committing to any long-term contracts.

Sure enough, that’s a lot of money but let’s not forget this is a high-end phone, one that rocks a 5-inch full HD screen, quad-core processor, powerful camera, Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, and so on and on. Hopefully, carrier subsidies will push the price down to acceptable $200 with a two-year contract. We’ll see…
