Verizon is apparently planning to start offering a flagship Nokia device later this year. Codenamed Nokia Laser, the device will have similar specifications to Nokia’s current Lumia 920, TheVerge is reporting.

The report goes on suggesting that Microsoft plans to help the Big Red carrier market such a product and offer it alongside other high-end devices like the Galaxy S III. The Redmond giant will invest its own marketing money to make sure everyone and their mama knows about the Laser, as well as features and benefits it offers.

We don’t have any dates at the moment, but if little is changed under the Lumia 920′s hood, we guess the launch is a matter of proper timing.

Needless to say Nokia declined to comment on this rumor, though we hope they’ll be more open to talk about it during Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.
