Not that we didn’t know it’s coming; we just expected it to be announced at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. The Samsung Galaxy Xcover 2 is now officially official, and as you would imagine it keeps its rugged look and feel.
The device is dust and sand resistant, and can be submerged in water to a depth of one meter for up to 30 minutes (IP67 certified). Yes, this means you will be able to take photos under water, if you fancy so.
Specs wise, the Xcover 2 comes with a 4-inch WVGA (480×800 pixels) touchscreen, 5-megapixel rear camera, VGA front-facing one, 1GHz dual-core processor, GPS + GLONASS, Bluetooth 4.0, solid 1,700mAh battery, while Android 4.1 Jelly Bean is running the show.
There are also few handy pre-installed apps like Cardio Trainer Pro which is made to help you achieve your fitness goals, Motion UI that understands your movements to shake and update or turn over to mute, as well as other Samsung apps and services such as the Readers Hub, Video Hub, Game Hub and Music Hub.
Availability information and pricing were not mentioned in the press release, though…
