Looks like Sharp has managed to corner Apple to make LCD panels for the next-gen iPhone. According to Japan’s business daily Nikkan Kogyo, the display manufacturer will start production on LCD panels in its Kameyama plant this June. Details like screen size and resolution are still a mystery, though.
Meanwhile, Japan Display — which is a joint venture between LG Display, Sony, Hitachi and Toshiba — has also allegedly received business from Apple, with production already underway.
We would have to conclude that Cupertino-based company wants to make sure there are no shortage in components for the iPhone 5S and even the iPhone 6, which will most likely launch next year…
