ASUS PadFone 2 gets a major update, firmware reaches version 10.4.16.8

ASUS released a new firmware update for its smartphone-tablet combo PadFone 2. The new 700+ MB heavy downloads brings along a ton of changes, though device stays on Android 4.1 (firmware jumps to version 10.4.16.8). Improvements are made in camera performance, focus sensitivity, video quality and image clarity, video light functions and Wi-Fi stability. Moreover, the new noise reduction function is added to improve the quality of low brightness image. Plus, let’s not forget system wide compatibility and performance tweaks, all of which should make for an improved user experience.

The new firmware is now available through ASUS’ website. There are a number of different (although same) region-specific PadFone 2 versions, and you should determine which of the many ZIP files presented at this page works for you. Fire-up the Settings menu and from the About phone menu see which SKU your PadFone 2 has. Then grab the update that sings along your device…
