The first 8-inch Windows 8 tablet, the Acer Iconia W3 that was announced at last week’s Computex expo in Taiwan last week is now available for pre-order at a handful of retailers, starting at $349.99.
The Iconia W3 runs on Windows 8 and has an 8.1-inch 1280 x 800 display, a dual-core Atom processor running at 1.5GHz, 2GB of RAM, a 2MP front-facing camera and a rear-facing camera of 2MP as well. The unit comes with micro USB, micro HDMI and microSD, has a battery life of around eight hours. The Iconia W3 comes with some Microsoft software, with Office Home and Student 2013 pre-installed.
Retailers offering the Iconia W3 for pre-order are Amazon, Staples and Office Depot. Pricing vries a bit, with Amaon and Staples offering the 32GB model for $379.99, and Office Depot charging $349.99 for the device. The 64GB version of the Iconia W3 is being offered by Amazon for $429.99. Shipping dates vary by retailer, with Office Depot promising a June 16th shipping date, Staples shipping between June 11th and 19th and Amazon shipping the units in three to five weeks.
