New Leak Reveals Specs of Rumored Motorola Moto X

It’s been awhile since we’ve heard about the rumored Moto X handset from Motorola, and today a new leak from @evleaks sheds some light on the specs of the device. Previous rumors have suggested specs ranging from the decidedly mid-range to the ridiculously high-end, and details from @evleaks are pegging the device as a mid-range offering, and are as follows:

  • Android 4.2.2
  • 1.7GHz dual-core MSM8960 Pro processor
  • 720p HD display
  • 2GB RAM
  • 16GB internal storage
  • 10.0-megapixel rear camera
  • 2.0-megapixel front-facing camera

Motorola had previously announced the existence of the Moto X during AllThingsD’s D11 conference, in which Motorola CEO Dennis Woodside revealed that the device would launch before October.

With Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie expected to launch in the coming months, we may just see the Moto X running on the new version of Android’s mobile OS.

The battery size is the biggest spec not listed. Moto has prided itself lately on big batteries and all day useage. If this has a 2800mAH+ battery it will be an amazing device. With stock android those specs are more than enough to make the device fly. Using the s4 pro should make the device relatively inexpensive compared to the other flag ships out there since it will be 1 year old when released. The HTC One and GS4 need the latest processors to power their bloated devices. The nexus 4 still flies, and this will be slightly overclocked to what the N4 is. Using the specs that Google uses in their nexus devices is a great way to ensure a quick update timeline. I’d buy it.

My Nexus 4 is still as fast today as it was on the first. The s4 Pro is a great chip for smartphones, and I look forward to seeing what the 800 can do in terns of speed and graphics for future Nexus devices.
