Twitter has released a cross-platform update today, adding Direct Message syncing across a number of platforms, as well as various other features. Users will now be able to sync their Direct Messages across iPad, iPhone, Mac, Android, twitter.com, mobile.twitter.com and TweetDeck. Syncing will be rolling out gradually, and will require the newest version of the app to function.
“For all of these platforms, you’ll now be able to sync direct messages (DM) across all your devices and Twitter accounts. When you read a DM on your Android phone or iPhone, it will be marked as read in your browser, your desktop apps, or your tablet. And vice versa. Please note that syncing will roll out gradually: you’ll need to get the latest version of each app to ensure it works on all of your devices.” – Twitter Blog
Improvements made to Twitter for iPhone, iPad Android and mobile.twitter.com include an expanded user bio while searching, and the ability to discover similar twitter accounts by swiping left from the preview. Twitter for iPhone adds a new people button to the app’s navigation bar, which reveals suggested Twitter accounts. Twitter for Mac has been improved with the addition of a Connect tab, which includes interactions, favorites and retweets.
Look for these features to be coming to your devices soon, or head over to the iTunes App Store, Google Play Store or the Mac App Store to manually update.
