Focus on the mid-range device and the vast Chinese market seems to be working for HTC. The Taiwanese company has scored 450,000 pre-orders for its Desire 816 phablet in the country in just three days!
That’s a fairly impressive figure that pushed HTC’s stock up for more than 3 percent. After few bad quarters, HTC is getting back to the game.
Back to the Desire 816. It will hit the store shelves in China later this month, after which it’s going global in April. The 7.99mm-thin device rocks a 5.5-inch 720p HD screen, 13-megapixel rear and 5-megapixel front cameras, 1.6GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 chip, 1.5GB of RAM, 8GB of expandable storage, LTE connectivity support, dual speakers and a 2,600 mAh battery. In Europe, it will likely be offered for free with contracts starting at some 25 Euro per month…
