PocketPhilanthropist brings charitable donations to the palm of your iHand

PocketPhilanthropist is a brand new iPhone app, designed to raise funds for a different charity each week. It was made by two former high school classmates from Seattle who have teamed up 11 years later and decided to launch the app after seeing how mobile donations have raised $3 million in one day for the Haiti crisis.

When you think about it – it makes perfect sense. All of you who paid $200 to grab an iPhone (plus agreeing on a not-that-cheap two-year contract) definitely have additional few bucks to spend every week/month on charitable donations, which BTW start at just $1.

Each week, PocketPhilanthropist will feature a different charity and the goal is to raise $1 million in the first year. The initial charities include 3MAlliance, which tries to save the rain forest in Ecuador; and One Mission International, that wants to fulfill the needs of Ethiopia’s orphaned children.

The press release ends with an invite to users to vote for PocketPhilanthropist in the Pepsi Refresh competition during the months of July and August. If you like it (and we do), we too invite to visit the competition’s website and vote for these guys. 😉
