CoPilot Live now with ActiveTraffic, real-time traffic information

ALK Technologies is launching ActiveTraffic, a real-time traffic service that integrates traffic flow information with CoPilot Live GPS navigation app. Developed in co-operation with INRIX (which we covered in the past), the CoPilot Live ActiveTraffic “intelligently calculates” the best route to avoid traffic congestion and provide an accurate estimated time of arrival (ETA). The software (actually it’s the INRIX’ servers) continuously monitors your route for delays as you drive and alerts you if a faster route is available. If it is available, CoPilot Live will indicate the estimated time you’ll save and provide an option to preview the new route.

At a glance you can see the real-time traffic conditions along your route – sections where traffic is traveling freely are indicated green, those with moderate congestion in yellow and severe congestion in red. CoPilot Live, of course, takes all of this information into account to maintain a realistic estimated time of arrival.

CoPilot Live North America and CoPilot Live USA iPhone app owners can already try out the new ActiveTraffic service for free for 14 days, after which they’ll have to buy a subscription for 12 months use for $9.99 (in case they want to keep using it, that is). CoPilot Live for other platforms will be updated with the same real-time traffic service in the next few days…
