Last Years' LG National Texting Champ

Warm up those hands, LG Electronics has launched the LG Mobile World Cup. The event gives participants a chance to show off how insanely fast they can be at text messaging… keeping in mind they’ll want to make as few mistakes as possible!

The LG Mobile World Cup is now an annual event, and competitors from around the world will compete. The event starts with a whole series of national contests. The winners meet in regional championships, and THEN, the winners of the regionals meet in the LG Mobile World Cup for the title of the World’s Fastest Texter.

This year LG has expanded the World Cup beyond North America (For the past 2 years, LG held the LG National Texting Championships in the US/Canada only). In fact, I believe Korea has already started their own event (Octbober 27th) and Brazil will be holding theirs later this year. Next year 12 countries are slated to compete and another 3 countries will be added in 2010. LG certainly has plans on growing the event. To that end, they plan to invest almost $20 million USD into the event by 2010.
