Google Bans Cupcake Users from Android Market

In a move designed to deter users from uploading Cupcake onto their G1’s, it looks like Google has blocked access to the Android Market for anyone running Cupcake. If you’ve jumped the gun and loaded up Cupcake on your G1, chances are you won’t be able to browse, search or purchase anything from the market. Google made the move when they started noticing more and more… and more… and MORE people updating to Cupcake. Not happy with that, they made their move and are hoping this will stop the spread of Cupcake for now (that’s a funny sentence). Apparently, Google has blocked the ‘G’ build of Cupcake for now, and the ‘H’ build still has full access to the Market. Expect that one to get blocked in the near future.

If you’ve loaded up Cupcake onto your G1, let us know if you’ve been blocked from the Market. Should be interesting to see how this one plays out. In my mind this is Google saying to everyone ‘Stop that! Cupcake isn’t ready yet! Here, take this slap on the wrist!’… At the same time, I can hear all of the Android users complaining ‘Just launch it already… we can’t wait forever!!!’
