This article is 2 days old, I saw it the day it came out but I’ve had reservations posting it since it’s essentially a pat on the back press release. No interesting content, nothing new at all really. This is the type of corporate propaganda I dislike. However it is the holidays, so news is going to be few and far between, so as a filler: enjoy this article.

Nokia is set to remain as a well-known name in the global mobile phone market with its latest product development in the communication technology.

With the tagline "This is what computers has become", Nokia has launched the Nokia N95 recently, an all in one multimedia computer with integrated Global Positioning System (GPS) functionality and five megapixel camera.

"Nokia is becoming more than just a mobile phone. It is a convergence product with lots of multimedia features," Nokia’s Malaysia & Brunei customer and market operations general manager, Andrew Cheong told Bernama recently.

Globally, he said the mobile phone is expected to grow by 10 percent and for Nokia, it has been growing in terms of volume and brand preference.

However, he was not able to give specific figures for Malaysia.

Specifically in Malaysia, he said the third generation (3G) phone sales has been on the uptrend and Nokia is also introducing the 3.5G enabled phones such as the N95.

"On an average, Malaysians change their mobile phones every 24 months," he said.
