Yesterday I was thinking something. Wouldn’t it be great to have a perfect all-in-one device which could have all cool features such as: full QWERTY keyboard, WiFi capability, built-in GPS and high-quality camera. Apparently such device already exist. The only problem is that it’s working on Windows Mobile platform and it’s part of the Fujitsu-Siemens Pocket LOOX T Series handhelds.
I’m not writing this to glorify the Windows Mobile platform. I’m doing it in hope that someone from Symbian OS handset manufacturers will read this post and actually do something about it. Nokia’s E61, E70 and 9300i have many of the mentioned features, except:
- E61 doesn’t have a camera
- E70 does have a camera but doesn’t have a flash light
- 9300i also doesn’t have a camera, plus no vibration and other “standard” features (I’ve wrote about this in my other post – “The new Communicator ideas“)
Another very interesting device is Sony Ericsson P990i. I find it to be the near perfect device. Camera could be better, but 2MP with autofocus is good enough.
Now, NONE of the mentioned devices doesn’t have a GPS. Why is that? Do I have to carry a separate GPS receiver? That’s insane.
Anyway, Fujitsu-Siements, which is BTW an outsider in this “game”, has shown all the big players how to satisfy all customer’s needs with a single device. C’mon Nokia, c’mon Sony Ericsson – show us what you’re made of! 🙂
