Gigabyte is working on its first Android phone which will most probably become a part in their GSmart series. The name is still unknown, meaning we’ll have to wait for the Mobile World Congress to get all the details.

From what we’ve heard, it will be a low-end smartphone that will compete with the HTC Tattoo. Apparently, the specs will include such things as 2.8-inch QVGA touchscreen, WiFi, GPS, 2-megapixel camera, 192MB RAM coupled with 512MB ROM, Qualcomm’s 528Mhz CPU, Android 1.6, trackball, 3.5mm headset jack, and a microSD memory card slot. Sadly, 3G is not on board.

As for the pricing and availability, the GSmart Android will start selling in February or March, when interested users will be able to grab it for around 200 EUR (about $300)…
