With Apple and AT&T’s recent launch of the Apple iPhone, Verizon may be looking to boost its appeal in the face of over half a million iPhones being sold in the first few days – all on AT&T’s network. Verizon has launched premium-tier calling plans, aimed at the non-smartphone set. The premium plans start at $79.99 for “450 minutes for $79.99 monthly access and going up to 6,000 minutes for $239.99 include Unlimited Messaging, the V CAST VPak, VZ Navigator(SM) and Mobile Email.”

Rob Miller, Verizon marketing VP, said that, “These are lifestyle plans that respond to customers who want one bundle with all of the services they use in every day life.”

The plans notably include unlimited SMS text messaging and the newly launched Mobile Email service. “Mobile E-mail provides Verizon Wireless customers with easy access to the world’s most popular e-mail services, including Yahoo!(R) Mail, AOL(R) Mail, AIM(R) Mail, Windows Live Hotmail, Verizon.net accounts and more on their mobile phones.”

Combine unlimited text messaging with access to up to 10 email accounts per user, and you have a killer deal! Now you don’t even need a smartphone to shoot out those mobile emails!
